Do you remember the scene in episode 5 where Eun Gye Hoon was surprised to see Noh Da-Hyun in his restaurant after the incident that happened at the mall with his mother, Eun Gye Hoon asked what Noh Da-Hyun was making and she replied, “I stole some rice cakes and fish cakes from my mother’s shop” obviously to make Tteobokki but funnily Eun Gye Hoon finds out that she could not prepare Tteobokki.



Let’s dig in more on Tteobokki.

Tteobokki is also referred to as ‘steokbokgi’. The discovery of Tteobokki is actually amazing. Something made by mistake turned out to be a thing that everyone loves. Tteobokki was discovered by accident, someone mistakenly poured rice cake into hot sauce… They tried it and realised that it wasn’t so bad. Ever since, Tteobokki has become a popular dish that everyone likes.
We have different types of Tteobokki namely:
1. Curry Tteobokki.


The curry was traced back to the 16th century during Persia’s mughal empire, the recipes was originated from sukhi’s. We have different types of curry Tteobokki like: chicken curry, medras curry, Japanese curry, ottogi curry and green curry Tteobokki, to mention a few. Ingredients: carrots, soy sauce, Tteobokki noodles, salt, onion, water, grape seed oil, black pepper, red bell pepper, curry sauce, tumeric, masala etc…
2. Cheese Tteobokki.


The cheese Tteobokki is just the mixture of cheese with Tteobokki. It contains Tteobokki, small shrimp, mozzarella cheese. It is usually combined with seafood, green garbage, dried Kelly, scallions, squid, soy sauce, sugar, syrup, garlic etc…
3. Creamy Rose Tteobokki.

The creamy Rose Tteobokki is made of milk, usually thick and creamy. Ingredients: Milk, gochujang, gochugaru, sesame oil, soy sauce, garlic, green onions, tomatoe sauce with cream etc…
4. Jjajang Tteobokki.


Jjajang Tteobokki has a different colour that’s because it is covered in black beans sauce with seafood flavour. Ingredients: avocado oil, onion, green onion, water, cornstarch, fishcakes, dried kelp, rice cakes, black beans paste.
Tteobokki is an energy giving food which means that it helps to boost the body energy, it contains 10% protein, it helps to protect digestive system which means it helps to prevent constipation. It also provides iron to the body. Tteobokki is one of Korean’s amazing cuisine that you must try out.
